Lark Row Rising: a community across land and water.
Competition for a cohousing of 15 affordable homes

Co-Housing London East (CHLE) will create a community of 15 owner-occupied affordable homes at Lark Row. The mix of 1,2 and 3 bed homes and studio apartments will support more sustainable ways of living through shared facilities occupied by a diverse and stable community with a collective commitment to actively contribute to the life and wellbeing of the local neighbourhood.

Our homes should be able to reflect what we are; they should be able to change and adapt through time in harmony with the environment.

A fair and inclusive building should embrace the true spirit and cultural heritage of the local communities creating a vibrant area, with a unique personality and a strong sense of place and belonging, where people can thrive and feel accepted.

We imagine an inclusive urban lifestyle based on local social relationships and the principles of a natural and sustainable life, where it is possible to exercise your body and mind. The goal is a healthy life immersed in nature at the heart of Tower Hamlets.
Create an architecture that enables its residents and the local community to live in harmony with nature, encapsulating the notion that humans and nature are one.
